BR #43 on St Johns Church Rd at Black Creek Rd is now back open to traffic!

Friday, August 14th, in the evening until Sunday, August 16th, evening, the Harrison County Sheriff's Department will be shutting down Research Blvd in coordination with the Harrison County Highway Department and Harrison County EMA in Lanesville for Emergency Vehicle Operations Training. During this time, the roadway will be completely shut down to all traffic. The detour to this will be on Lanesville Rd NE, just north of Research Blvd. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause over the weekend and we are committed to providing excellent Law Enforcement Service for our community through this training. Thanks to our partners, the Harrison County Highway Department and Harrison County EMA, for helping make this training possible.

Both BR #37 on Turley Rd and BR #75 on Crestview Ave are now open to traffic. Our contractor E & B Paving still has a few clean-up and punch-list items to complete, but all major work is now done.

Our Bridge #43 project on St John’s Church Rd continues to progress well. C & R Construction poured the deck today. Looking forward to getting good breaks on our concrete tests and knocking out the approach work next!

Bids were opened for the new Harrison County BR #170 project on Smith Creek Rd tonight. We received eight competitive bids. The low bidder was TRC LLC. The bids were taken under advisement and we hope to award the bid at our next Commissioner meeting on August 3, 2026. A detailed bid summary is available in the attached picture.

Bids were opened on asphalt resurfacing contract 2026-2 at the Commissioner meeting tonight. C & R Construction submitted the low bid and was awarded the contract. A bid summary is shown in the attached picture. Once we get a schedule from C & R we'll provide an update on when the work will begin.

Work is set to begin next Monday (7/27) on our BR #25 rehabilitation project on Corydon New Middletown Rd just south of SR 62. Force Construction was the low bidder on this project with a bid of $1,249,512.00. This is a federal aid project with federal funds provided through INDOT Southeast providing 80% of the construction costs and Harrison County paying 20% of construction costs from our Cumulative Bridge Fund.

The closure is expected to last 90 days, which would have the road back open on or before October 23, 2026.

Force Construction is based out of Columbus, Indiana. We don't have a lot of experience with Force, but have heard good things about them from others. You can see more about Force at their website:

The detour for this project will use Country Club Rd. Details are shown in the picture below.

C & R Construction has completed the removal of the old bridge deck and the setting of the new box beams on Harrison County BR #43. Work will continue now on placing rebar and preparing to pour the concrete deck.
