Step back in time and experience one of the most essential trades of the 19th century. Blacksmiths played a vital role in canal towns like Roscoe Village, crafting tools, hardware, and everyday necessities that kept communities running.

In this hands-on introductory class, participants will learn the foundational skills of traditional blacksmithing, including working at the hammer and anvil, operating coal and gas forges, and practicing classic techniques such as bending and twisting metal. Proper blacksmithing safety—just as important then as it is now—will be emphasized throughout the class.

For the second year running, the shops & restaurants of Historic Roscoe Village will be doling out cookies, candies, & all things chocolate. Bring your galentines or valentines and enjoy a sweet afternoon!
