Today is Peace Officer Memorial Day, and our association is pausing to honor it the right way.

On October 1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726, officially designating May 15 as the day this nation recognizes law enforcement personnel killed or disabled in the line of duty. According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, an average of 150 to 160 law enforcement professionals are killed in the line of duty every year in the United States.

In observance of this day, we are running a fundraising drive. Financial stability for surviving families is not a bonus. It is a responsibility we take seriously.

Yesterday, we gathered to celebrate and say farewell to Sgt. M. Selinske as he begins his well-earned retirement.
For nearly 30 years, Matt has served the Costa Mesa community with integrity, dedication, and heart. He’s been more than a law enforcement officer — he’s been a mentor, a steady leader, and a true partner to those who’ve had the privilege of working alongside him.

Matt, your impact will be felt long after your shift has ended. Thank you for your service, your commitment, and the countless moments of guidance and support you’ve given over the years.
We wish you nothing but happiness, rest, and new adventures in this next chapter. Congratulations on a retirement that is truly well deserved. 💙👏
