The Dane County Sheriff's Department will be offering their Stop the Bleed course on Monday, June 15th from 3:30PM - 5:30PM at the Town of Cottage Grove Police Department.

This hands on course includes training on applying pressure, packing a wound, and using a tourniquet, and is designed to equip people with skills to potentially save lives.

Please be advised that we will be posting 10 Ton Weight Limits on Vilas Road & Gaston Road, as well as connecting Town roads, starting this Friday morning, June 12th.

Due to an increase in heavy truck traffic in our area right now, the need for this has arisen to protect our Town roads. Any questions can be directed to our Hwy Superintendent.

The Hot2Trot Cottage Grove Run will be taking place this Saturday, June 13th! Please be advised that the race will intersect with the following Town roads at the Glacial Drumlin Trail:

- Uphoff Road
- Ridge Road
- N. Jargo Road

The Hot2Trot begins at Fireman's Park, with the Half Marathon starting at 7:00AM, the Kid's Run starting at 7:30AM, and the 5K starting at 7:45AM. We ask that you please watch out for participants if you cross paths with them on Saturday.

Proceeds of the Hot2Trot benefits the Cottage Grove Fire Department and has contributed over $100,000 in its history. If you would like to participate, you can sign up through this link:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Cottage Grove will hold a public hearing at 6:30 P.M. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Cottage Grove Town Hall, 4058 County Road N, to receive public comments on proposed amendments to the following section of the Town's Code of Ordinances.

Amending Section 25.04 of the Town Code of Ordinances to revise parking violation penalties and general enforcement methods.

All interested parties are invited to attend said hearing and be heard. Next Saturday, June 13th, Cruzin' for a Cause ATV/UTV Club will be driving through the Town of Cottage Grove for a benefit ride. They will be traveling from Utica to Nora's Tavern around 11:00am, and will then be proceeding from Nora's Tavern to Lake Mills around 1:00pm. Town Roads that will be utilized during the ride include Nora Road, W. Ridge Road & N. Jargo Road.

Please share the road safely with the benefit riders if you cross paths with them on Saturday, June 13th.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) urges ATV and UTV riders to review recent law changes that took effect June 1st.

Numerous law changes and updates pertaining to ATV and UTV operation are detailed in the 2026 ATV/UTV regulations that you can find here: https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/ATV/regulations

Updates include:
- Operators and passengers are all required to wear a seatbelt in a UTV.
- Intentionally causing damage with an ATV or UTV can cost you more than a fine – up to three times the cost to repair the damage.
- ATV or UTV operators may not tow objects bearing any person on a trail or route. Towing persons on ice is limited to 10 mph.
- UTVs now have window tint restrictions.

On June 1, 2026, the Town Board adopted an ordinance creating an impact fee on new development along and near North Star Road north of USH 12/18 for improvements at or near the intersection of USH 12/18 and North Star Road. The impact fee is imposed under, and is authorized by § 66.0617, Wis. Stats., and

The impact fee shall be paid with each building permit application for properties in the area defined by the Public Facilities Needs Assessment that includes any new building or any building expansion, and/or any new or expanded outdoor parking, storage and activity area, that is permitted after May 1, 2026, as determined by the Building Inspector. Fees will be assesed at a rate of $0.21 per square foot of building area, plus $0.105 per square foot of outdoor parking, storage and activity area.

The Town Hall Office is closed on Fridays from Memorial Day (May 25th) through Labor Day (September 7th). We will be available Monday through Thursday from 8:00am – 12:30pm.
