As always, feel free to send us your feedback. The Cottage Grove Police Department was established in December 1982 by an intergovernmental agreement to joi

ntly serve the Village and Town of Cottage Grove. The members of the Cottage Police Department are dedicated to establishing and developing strong community partnerships, as well as, providing professional service to all in our community. We are an organization that seeks to enhance the quality of life of our community by actively seeking opportunities to work with our community partners in fighting crime and solving identified problems. Furthermore, we seek to prevent crime, reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods through proactive programming. The department consists of a Chief, Lieutenant, detective, 10 police officers, a full-time administrative services manager, and 2 full-time administrative assistant. On March 26, 2013 the Cottage Grove Law Enforcement Committee approved the implementation of a police canine program. In October 2013 Larz was sworn in as the department's first certified police canine. January 1, 2015 the Cottage Grove Police Department became a village only police department.

🚨 Busy Weekend Ahead = Parking Olympics 🚨

We have several events happening in the community this weekend, which means extra traffic, packed parking lots, and everyone suddenly becoming “creative” with where they leave their vehicles.

A few friendly reminders from the Cottage Grove Police Department:

🚫 “I’ll only be here for a minute” is still illegal parking.
🚒 Fire lanes are for fire trucks.
🚷 Sidewalks are for pedestrians, not partial vehicle storage.
🛑 Blocking driveways makes neighbors grumpy — and we hear about it.
🎯 If you have to ask yourself, “Can I park here?” … you probably shouldn’t.

Please slow down, be patient, and park responsibly so everyone can enjoy the weekend safely.

It will be a busy weekend at Bakken Park with the following events:

🔸Wisconsin State High School and Middle School Rugby Finals at Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex – Saturday, May 30, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

🔸Wisconsin Paddle Battle (pickleball tournament) – Saturday, May 30, 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 31, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

🔸Monona Grove High School – 5K Cancer Run – Sunday, May 31, 8 a.m. to approximately Noon

Staff will be opening an overflow parking area at Fireman’s Park to accommodate the events over the weekend. A parking map is available on the Village website (www.vi.cottagegrove.wi.gov/ParkingMap).

If there are any issues related to traffic, please contact the Cottage Grove, WI Police so they can respond. The non-emergency number is available (608-255-2345), but be sure to call 911 if it’s an emergency.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, we ask our community to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who gave everything for our freedoms.

From all of us at the Cottage Grove Police Department, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy.

We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This morning, Officer Ace, Officer Paulat, and Officer Gilmore joined SRO Officer Lee at Glacial Drumlin School to serve breakfast to members of the Students of Color Union and the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Club.

It was a great opportunity to connect with students, celebrate the rich cultures and contributions of the AANHPI community, and continue building positive relationships within our schools and community!
