Downtown Historic Main Street Cottage Grove is an active community gathering spot. The Main Street Program was implemented nationally in 1980 to revitalize downtowns across America that had fallen into decline. The interstate system and creation of shopping malls had an adverse effect on our downtowns. Thanks to Main Street Program, down towns are springing back to life, and our community is one o

f them. Main Street Cottage Grove has a board of directors, a coordinator, and four committees:

The Design Committee focuses on the beautification of downtown. The Promotion Committee is charged with projects that bring excitement to our downtown, such as special events. The Economic Vitality Committee provides business support and works to recruit business. The Organization Committee maintains the by-laws, the mission, and the visioning of the organization.
