💪 Stronger muscles. Healthier aging. Greater independence.

West Virginia University researchers are inviting women ages 50–75 to participate in StrengthenHER, a 16-week virtual research program designed to support muscle health and reduce the risk of sarcopenia, the age-related loss of muscle mass.

Through evidence-based resistance training and nutrition education, participants will gain practical tools to help maintain strength, mobility and independence, all from the comfort of home.

What a way to finish the “contest season”!!

The junior and senior teams did a fantastic job at the 2026 West Virginia 4-H Livestock Judging Contest. The Senior Team earned their way to represent WV at the National Competition during the North American International Livestock Expo (NAILE) this November. Individual and team placings are included in the pictures below.

We could not be prouder of these kids. Not only did they demonstrate their skills in livestock evaluation, but they also showed up to practice eager to learn and ready to work. It was a pleasure seeing their growth, dedication and effort over the last several weeks.

We would also like to thank the parents who helped yesterday with the teams. Whether it was fixing lunch, being the cheerleaders for the kids, or jumping at the chance to help with whatever was needed with the contest, you all have represented Jackson County well!! We are glad that the rest of the state got to see what we see on a nearly everyday basis.

Our Fall newsletter is live!

What a busy and exciting summer it has been! From hands-on learning at 4-H camp to the excitement of the Jackson County Jr. Fair, our summer has been filled with opportunities for youth, families, volunteers, and community members to learn new skills, build relationships, and celebrate their accomplishments.

In this issue, we are taking a look back at some of the highlights from the summer season. Let’s celebrate the achievements of our 4-H members at camp and the county fair, recognize the hard work of our judging teams, and reflect on the community service provided by our 4-H members!
