The annual burn ban is in effect. Only small camp fires and cooking fires until May 15th.

The reason behind the ban, that was signed into NYS law in 2009, is fire reports submitted by fire departments from across the state, indicated a significant increase of vegetation fires between March and May.

🚨❄️ Blizzard Warning Update ❄️🚨

The Winter Storm Watch has now been upgraded to a Blizzard Warning for our area. The Rosendale Police Department is urging all residents to take this storm seriously and begin preparations.

Based on the current timetable, plowing operations are expected to begin at approximately 4:00 PM. to ensure our highway crews can operate safely and effectively, all vehicles must be removed from roadways as soon as possible.

This storm is expected to bring heavy snowfall and high winds, which may create whiteout conditions, drifting snow, and hazardous travel. These conditions present significant safety concerns for both residents and emergency personnel.

We are asking for your full cooperation in clearing the roadways and avoiding unnecessary travel. Your assistance will help us keep our community safe and allow crews to do their jobs efficiently.

Please stay safe, stay off the roads, and monitor local updates.

CVFC extends our deepest condolences to the McGuire family and the UCSO. A true servant to his community.

PASSING OF RETIRED MEMBER

It is with profound sadness that Sheriff Juan Figueroa announces the passing of Sergeant Timothy E. McGuire (retired). Tim began his career with the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office in 1975 and retired in March of 2007, giving over 32 years of service to Ulster County. During his tenure, he served in various capacities to include our In-Water Rescue team as a tender, Navigation team member on the Hudson River, instructor in DWI Investigations and Field Sobriety Testing and sergeant assigned to patrol, just to name a few. He graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy as part of the 208th Session in March of 2002. Upon retirement, he remained in a part-time capacity with our agency for nearly another 20 years, when he recently “retired” again. He also served as an instructor in Marine Patrol Operations for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in Lake George. Sergeant Timothy McGuire was an asset to our agency and will truly be missed. We kindly ask you keep his family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time. Details surrounding arrangements will be forthcoming.
