Cottleville Officers Selected to Support 2026 FIFA World Cup Security Operations
The Cottleville Police Department is proud to announce that several of our officers have been selected to assist with security operations during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Kansas City. As part of a multi-agency public safety effort, Cottleville officers will work alongside local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors from around the world. Officers will be assigned to a variety of security details, including game-day patrols, team base camps, fan festivals, and other World Cup-related events. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to be the largest sporting event in history, bringing thousands of international visitors to the Kansas City region. Security operations associated with the event are being supported through the FIFA World Cup Grant Program (FWCGP), a landmark federal initiative administered by FEMA to help ensure the safety and security of the tournament. This opportunity reflects the professionalism, training, and dedication of our officers and allows them to contribute to a world-class event while representing the City of Cottleville on an international stage. We are honored to have our officers participate in this historic event and look forward to supporting a safe and successful FIFA World Cup for players, fans, and visitors alike

Don't Feed Wildlife in City Parks

Feeding wildlife may seem harmless, but it can actually create serious problems for animals, parks, and the environment. The City would like to remind residents and visitors to avoid feeding ducks, geese, fish, turtles, and other wildlife in local parks — especially bread and other processed foods.

While animals may eagerly eat bread, it does not provide the nutrients they need to stay healthy. Regularly feeding bread to wildlife can lead to malnutrition, illness, and unnatural dependence on human food sources. Excess food left in ponds and lakes can also negatively impact water quality by increasing algae growth and pollution.

Another growing concern is the amount of litter being left behind from feeding wildlife. Bread bags, plastic packaging, and food containers are often discarded near lakes, trails, and park areas. This litter can harm animals that may become tangled in the plastic or accidentally ingest it. It also creates unnecessary cleanup efforts and takes away from the beauty of the parks for other visitors.

Feeding wildlife can also attract large groups of animals to one area, which may increase aggressive behavior, overcrowding, and sanitation concerns.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy wildlife from a respectful distance and help keep parks clean by properly disposing of all trash and recycling. By not feeding wildlife and picking up litter, everyone can help protect local animals and preserve the natural beauty of our parks for future generations.
