We don’t expect Public Works to fundraise for essential infrastructure.
So why do we expect it from our fire departments?

Volunteer firefighters are protecting our communities with aging equipment and bake sale budgets. That gap shouldn’t exist.

It’s time we start treating emergency response like the essential service it is.

Earlier this evening Cottontown along with our mutual aid departments White House Community VFD and Shackle Island VFD, responded to a chimney/structure fire at a residence on P*e Dee Branch Rd. Additional manpower was requested from Number One VFD. White House Community VFD Brush 51 was in the area and were first on scene. They made a size-up, made entry, formulated an attack plan and started fighting the fire with extinguishers provided by sheriffs. Upon the arrival of E71, their attack plan was initiated. Although there was heavy damage to the second floor, the house was saved. Excellent work by the B51 crew.
Thanks to all the responding fire departments, Sumner County EMS and Sheriff's Department.
Well Done!

This evening the Cottontown Fire Department responded to a reported chimney fire at a residence on P*e Dee Branch Rd. Our neighboring departments White House Community Volunteer Fire Dept. , Shackle Island Fire Department , and Number One Fire Department responded as mutual aid. Given, the icy roads and timing, the home sustained significant damage, but is likely salvagable. The crews worked together with an incredible level of energy and got the fire under control quickly. An enormous THANK YOU to our mutual aid departments, Sumner CO. EMS, Sumner Co. Sheriff's Office and the Sumner Co. Emergency Communications Center! An incredible collaboration of agencies for a common goal...Serve our community!
