On Thursday, May 21, Preschool Storytime took place at Verde Valley Military Service Park with special guests, two veterans from Bert Black VFW Post 7400.
Together, we shared a story about Memorial Day and explored the importance of remembrance, service, and gratitude. The children listened thoughtfully and enjoyed the opportunity to learn from members of our community.
One of the most memorable moments came after storytime when our guests noticed a parent making the walk back to the library with three young children. They stepped in to help, pushing strollers and walking alongside the family. It was a simple act of kindness that beautifully reflected the spirit of service we had been discussing all morning.
Thank you to our guests from Bert Black VFW Post 7400 for helping create such a meaningful experience for our families.

Get ready for a summer full of stories, surprises, and fun at the Library! The Summer Reading Challenge at the Cottonwood Public Library begins May 11 and runs through July 12, and readers of all ages are invited to join the adventure. This year’s theme, Uncover a Story, encourages participants to dig into great books, explore fascinating topics, and enjoy special events all summer long.

Our free youth program is open to children and teens from birth through age 18 and is designed to keep kids reading, learning, and engaged while school is out. Whether your child loves picture books, graphic novels, mysteries, or chapter books, there’s something for every reader. Participants can earn exciting prizes just for reading throughout the summer!

Youth participants can register online by visiting ctwpl.info and clicking the “Reading Challenge Sign-Up” tab. Families can also stop by the library at 100 S. 6th Street or call (928) 340-2788 for more information.

Adults, we haven’t forgotten about you! We’re excited to offer a Summer Reading Program designed just for grown-up book lovers. Enjoy fun reading challenges, activities, prizes, and opportunities to join the summer excitement alongside family and friends. We’ll be uncovering stories that connect to the 250th Anniversary of the United States, the arts, local history, and more! Adult participants can stop by the Help Desk at the Library beginning May 11 to sign up, get program details, and claim a prize!

This program is made possible thanks to our generous sponsors, whose support helps bring literacy, creativity, and community fun to Cottonwood all summer long.

Unearth a summer filled with imagination, discovery, and unforgettable stories!
