As part of our routine maintenance, the City of Cottonwood is going to start chlorinating the water distribution system.

The process is scheduled to start on Monday, August 31st and will be operating through Friday, September 4th.

What you should do:
You do not need to boil your water.
Run water for a few minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth.
Avoid using chlorinated water in fish tanks.
If you have medical conditions (e.g., kidney dialysis), follow your provider’s advice.
If you have specific health concerns, please contact your doctor.

The addition of chlorine may react with iron and/or manganese that may be deposited in the watermains, breaking it loose and causing some temporary discoloration of the water. This could cause the water to turn cloudy or reddish brown in color, but it does not present a health threat. Citizens can let the water run for a few minutes to flush the faucets of the discolored water before using it for cooking or laundry.
