Construction of the new apparatus bays at Cotuit Fire continues to move forward with major progress now visible at the site.

The structural steel for the new bays has been erected, and work is actively underway as we move into the next phase of construction.

At the same time, framing of the new living quarters is nearing completion, marking another important milestone in the project.

This project represents a significant investment in the future of emergency services for the Village of Cotuit, helping ensure our firefighters have the space, facilities, and resources needed to continue serving the community for decades to come.

We appreciate the continued patience and support from our neighbors and the community as construction progresses.

Congratulations to our former class of 2024 intern Jack Sullivan on receiving Kucsma Training Scholarship! After attending the SMCC Fire Science program, Jack now works full time in Scarborough, ME. Although we wish we could have hired him here at home, we’re proud of the public service foundation he gained here at Cotuit Fire Department!

🚨 ATTENTION – CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

The steel for the new apparatus bays will be delivered Wednesday, the 29th starting at 8:00 AM.
Please note: There will be limited access to High Street during the deliveries, and traffic will be managed by an onsite police detail. We appreciate your patience as we safely coordinate this important step in the project.
As you can see in the additional photos, the floor for the new apparatus bays has been poured and is now fully prepared for construction. The delivery of steel on the 29th allows us to move forward with this major phase and begin bringing the ground.

At 2:22 this afternoon, Cotuit Fire Department was dispatched to the Trout Brook Road neighborhood for an out of control unpermitted fire. Deputy Chief Clark arrived on scene of a rapidly extending brush fire that had extended to a shed and was threatening a parked vehicle. As Cotuit crews went to work attacking the fire, a working Fire assignment was requested bringing additional firefighters and resources from Mashpee, COMM, and Barnstable Fire Departments as well as State DCR. With the assistance of the additional resources the fire was fully contained and extinguished. Hyannis Fire Department provided station coverage for Cotuit. Barnstable Police Department assisted on scene. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. All units were clear by 4:00.

🚑 Knowing CPR can save a life. Join the Cotuit Fire Department at the Cotuit Library for an informative, hands-on class where participants will learn essential lifesaving skills.

During this training, you’ll learn how to perform hands-only CPR, how to use an AED, and how to treat choking in both adults and children. The class includes hands-on practice and may involve moderate physical activity, but modifications can be made so that anyone, regardless of physical ability, can participate.

Please register each participant individually, as space is limited. This class is for training purposes only and does not provide a certification.

⚠️ Heads Up, Cotuit! Planned Power Outage on March 26

Before you light anything, make sure you’re following all Massachusetts open burning regulations.
Conditions can change daily, and open burning is only allowed when state guidelines permit it.

Be sure to call the station after 9:30 AM to confirm whether burning is allowed for the day before burning any brush

You can stop by the station for a copy of the full state regulations on open burning.

Work continues to move forward on the Cotuit Fire Station renovation and addition project. We are pleased to report that site work has now been completed, and you may begin to notice sections of the steel structure being erected as the next phase of construction gets underway.

This is an exciting milestone in the project as the new building footprint begins to take shape.

We want to thank the residents of Cotuit for their continued patience and support throughout this process.

Our team, along with the contractors, continues to work hard to limit disruptions to the village as much as possible while construction progresses.

We will continue to provide updates as the project moves forward.

Storm Damage Survey Now Open for Residents and Businesses

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is collecting information from residents and business owners impacted by the February 22–23 winter storm.

This survey is a critical step in determining whether Massachusetts may qualify for federal disaster assistance programs that could support individuals, homeowners, renters, and businesses.

If your home or business experienced storm-related damage, power outage impacts, property loss, or other hardship, please complete the survey by March 6: https://forms.office.com/g/W7V1kzB3wk

Submitting information does not guarantee assistance, but it helps the Commonwealth demonstrate the full impact of the storm and determine eligibility for potential federal recovery programs.

Residents and business owners may also complete the survey by phone by calling Mass 2-1-1 (extension 20).

Your response helps ensure Cape Cod is fully represented as recovery efforts continue. Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation Falmouth Chamber of Commerce
