Water and power are back at Evans Campground. Drinking water, flush toilets, and dump station are back up and running. Gifford Campground is also fully operational.

Thank you for your patience as our maintenance staff and the utility companies worked hard over the weekend to make sure services were back on and safe for campers!

Lake levels at Lake Roosevelt could rise quickly in the next couple of weeks, as much as 10 feet!

Lake Roosevelt is a working reservoir, so lake levels can fluctuate within a matter of hours. Lake level elevations can range between 1208 feet and 1290 feet over the course of the year. As lake levels rise, more boat launches will be available during the summer along Lake Roosevelt. Double check that lake levels are high enough at your preferred boat launch before hauling your boat.

Higher lake levels also mean less shoreline. If you plan to shoreline camp via boat over the next few weeks, make sure your campsite is set up far away from the water on dry ground. Keep an eye on your boat if it is anchored to the beach!

To check current lake levels, visit NOAA at https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/gcdw1 or call the Bureau of Reclamation at (800) 824-4916.

Memorial Day weekend serves as the unofficial kick off to summer season at Lake Roosevelt! As the park comes back to life this holiday weekend, here are a few reminders to stay happy and safe:

🏕️ Most of our campgrounds are fully booked. Reservations are needed to camp at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. Check Recreation.gov or call (877) 444-6777 to see what may still be available and make your reservations for the future now.

☀️ Temperatures are starting to creep up this weekend, but we are still in the time of year where weather can be unpredictable. Prepare for all seasons this weekend! It might be sunny one moment and rainy the next!

🥶 And even if it is sunny and warm, the water is still very cold! Hypothermia is a serious threat in the early months of summer. If you’re in or around the water, wear a PFD or Personal Flotation Device and keep an eye on children and pets.

🗑️ Trash services are limited. and plan to pack out all your garbage with you to dispose of at home. and minimize your impact in the park!

🔥 Campfires are currently allowed! We currently do not have any burn restrictions, so make some smores and stay warm out there. Remember to follow all rules, such as having fires only in designated fire rings or on the shoreline below the full pool line, to never leave your fire unattended, and to fully extinguish all fires.

🎣 What are you looking forward to this weekend?

We are still looking for volunteer campground hosts for Lake Roosevelt this summer! 🏕️ There are three locations open: Spring Canyon, Porcupine Bay, and Kettle Falls.

Campground hosts reside in the campground and perform a variety of tasks such as answering questions, collecting statistics, directing visitors to their sites, and helping maintain the campground. In general, hosts are the “eyes and ears” of the park. They allow for quality camping experiences for all visitors. Official volunteer uniform must be worn. Hosts must have their own fifth wheel or RV and be able to commit to a minimum of 32 hours a week and be able to work through Labor Day weekend. Position includes a free camping spot and all hookups are included!
