The first meeting of the Coulterville Utility District Committee is this evening at the IOOF Lodge at 6pm (today is Wednesday).

The county will also provide updates on the Utility District.

I've just been informed that the Greeley Hill sign which was put back up is in fact the original sign Mr. Nordeen made, it just has new lettering. It is the original sign!

The first meeting of the Coulterville Utility District formed by Coulterville residents will be next Wednesday, the 26th from 6pm to 8pm at the IOOF hall.

The committee will select a chair and be briefed on the laws governing their committee and how to hold meetings.

Public Works and County Administration will be there to present the findings of grants, some history of the district and options going forward.

Wednesday August 26th, 6 to 8pm. IOOF hall, Coulterville.

As if the unFAIR plan isn't bad already....get ready for a new increase of almost 30%. When does the camel's back break?

The California Fair Plan, the insurer of last resort, will increase rates by an average of 29.1%.

Recently I've had several people reach out to me about the new camera at the intersection of Highway 49 and J132. As posted by the Coulterville Visitors Center, it is not a Flock camera. It is not a license plate reader camera. As Mariposa County, we do not have any authority over what Caltrans puts on roads they manage unfortunately.

Coulterville and Lake Don Pedro Utility Districts: The county has applied to several grants and we are being told we should have some answers to acceptance by the end of the month (hopefully).

Transport vehicles from HHSA for shopping. This program was recently ended and a few of the locals here set up a town hall this Thursday at 10:30am at the Greeley Hill Senior Center, just past the library if you'd like to attend.

Fair Plan update:

We have 9 people I extended the study on rates to. We cannot do more at this time. I'm trying to get this analysis done ASAP and report to everyone next week.

Then, if it looks promising, we will do a town hall with that insurance agency and anyone who wants to have them give you a quote. I won't be accepting anymore to participate in this initial study.

Update 7/7/26, 7:27pm...I have all the volunteers we need for the study folks. Hopefully we can publish the results early next week. And yes, I'll publish them vacation or not.

About Fair Plan rates and a potential competitor to lower your rates.

I'd like 2 volunteers on the Fair Plan from each of our larger communities, Lake Don Pedro, Coulterville and Greeley Hill to let me hook them up with this new company to do a rate comparison for you. No cost, no nothing, just a simple comparison they will do for you. Then, if it is in fact as good as they say it is, we'll do town hall meetings for all our communities on this.
