With concern over rising COVID-19 cases this winter and new state restrictions to stop the spread of the virus, Island Transit has joined the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) “Health & Safety Commitments Program”, making a pledge to passengers that public transit is taking all the necessary measures to operate safely during the pandemic. Look for the safety seal on our buses and shelters indicating our commitments to public health. Learn more about the four commitments at www.islandtransit.org/commitments

Fogging the bus with medical-grade disinfectant proven to kill COVID-19, bus wash cleaning crew Rey Payad and Jay Young remain vigilant in their job to sanitize buses daily. The electrostatic sprayers "charge" the disinfectant droplets. Like a balloon with static cling, the magnetic disinfectant droplets find and bind to the virus, killing it. The fogger gets the disinfectant into tight spots for a more thorough cleaning. For more details about how Island Transit is working to protect passengers and staff during the pandemic, go to www.islandtransit.org/covid-19-response.

Our first hybrid bus just arrived! This bus will save about 37,500 gallons of bio-diesel through the life of the bus, reducing our carbon footprint on the islands. Manufactured by Gillig in Livermore, CA, the hybrids will typically run a minimum of 500,000 miles or 12 years, and cost around $735,000 each. The electric components are on the roof, making this bus taller than other two-door buses in our fleet. It also features annunciator equipment which visually and verbally call out each stop for passenger convenience. This new purchase is one example of how Island Transit strives to reduce carbon emissions to protect our environment and quality of island life.

I bought a truck from the fire department in oak harbor. My rental car needs to be dropped off in everett. Is bus service available from everett to oak harbor?. Does it drop me off at the ferry then catch another bus on the island? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Ed
Amazing sky at the bus barn tonight.
This is what on mainland buses. Recharge your computer and phone plus more.
Couldn't ignore the reflection in my bus windows last night! Already looking like fall at Harbor Station!
Worse customer service this weekend the driver knew where I was going and should have told me route was changed thanks for wasting my time
And they are leaving Metro Detroit
2 of the Paratransit buses at Roush are ready 520 & 521 (picture while on Detroit Transit)
Are buses running today ?
Are buses running today and no one is answering phones as I’m stuck at a bus stop.
I would like who says thank you for the bus driver and connection with the office today. when I had to pick up my phone thank you for the special Express to give me a lift down there to pick up my phone and got me back to work in time. They did all that for me I thank you all of you bus drivers for all you do and drivers know me. Due to bus limitation at the end of the day I was stressing how I can do work and get my phone with all your guy pulled together to help me pick up my phone thank you and thank you for all your hard work!!
Hey I saw your Paratransit busses at Roush Industries in Livonia MI
Traveling on Island County Transit looks like this now. Riders enter and exit through the back door. Every other row is blocked off, assuring distancing. It feels safe. Once I relaxed into the ride, it was a great experience!
