Stay in school kids.

Last night our DPO class had their first brush with theoretical pressure loss calculations. Which is all kinds of fun.

Coupland Chief Cummings teaches the class, held at Weir Fire Station.

Ignis Fire Academy was established to train volunteer firefighters in central Texas to SFFMA standard, with the aim of seeing those firefighters gain more knowledge and experience, certified.

Tonight was the first night of our Driver Pump Operator (DPO) course, at Weir fire station.

From now until March next year, students will be dedicating their Monday nights to qualify for their state DPO certification and provide their volunteer fire departments with skilled fire engine driver/operators.

An early start today, our first academy class are taking their written tests this morning. We're proud to host the first class to sit for the new SFFMA electronic testing. Thanks to the SFFMA for coming our to proctor the tests. Good luck folks.

Yesterday's burn day means our first class of students, from Cameron, Coupland, Milano and Weir VFDs have completed their training. They have put a lot of hard work in since we started back in March and have their SFFMA testing next weekend.

Thank you to Williamson County ESD #10 and ESD #6 for cooperating on the academy and to Hutto, Liberty Hill and Taylor FDs for helping us with guest instructors, as well as Pflugerville FD for allowing us to use their training facilities, and TEEX for their invaluable assistance.

Ignis Fire Academy exists to train local volunteer firefighters to state standard, with instructors from volunteer and career fire departments. We'll be starting our Driver/Pump Operator course next month and we'll be back with the 2022 academy next year.

Good morning, we'll see our students at Coupland station tonight for a practice test on content they have covered in their first 12 weeks of training.

We started our volunteer firefighter academy earlier this year, supported by Williamson County ESD #10 in cooperation with ESD #6. Our goal is to train volunteer firefighters in Central Texas to the highest standard we're able.

In line with this we have purchased a forcible entry training door. This robust training prop will help our students and local volunteer fire departments get more familiar with an essential skill.

The selection of this door from all those available on the market came after a visit to see multiple types at Pflugerville's training field and discussion with several local departments to narrow the selection.

Careful stewardship of the academy allows us to provide high quality training to regional VFDs at an affordable price and acquire new training equipment & resources.
