Position: Christian Education Coordinator
Reports to: Staf Pastor Parish Relations Committee Supervised by: Church pastor, hours submitted weekly Type of position: Part-time, employment-at-will
Hours: Up to 15 hours a week with expectation of 4 hours Sunday and 4 hours Wednesday Pay: $15 /hr
Insurance/Benefits: Not eligible
Evaluation of Performance: Annually (after 90-day probationary period)
By Pastor and the SPPRC
Preferred education:
*college degree in any field of education, secular or Christian
*experience in children and youth ministry and coordination of activities
Minimum education:
*high school diploma or equivalent with passion for Christian education of all ages
*valid driver’s license
*resident of Belleville, Kansas or surrounding area (no mileage provided)
*possess a working knowledge of the Methodist church or be willing to learn about the Methodist Church and possible membership
*strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Canva)
*background check required
General Duties:
*Establish and maintain a positive attitude with the children, youth, young adults and adults of the Church and the Pastor
*Lead Christian Education Team to maintain open communication in order to facilitate the goals that have been established for the Christian Education program and overall Church
*Review Christian education materials, order supplies, and stay within budget
*Understand confidentiality in all aspects of the Christian Education Coordinator’s role
* Safe Gatherings training required in first week of employment (child and vulnerable adult abuse prevention training) and renew every 4 years
*Be aware of and understand the goals of the Church as related to Sunday School, Youth programs, Vacation Bible School, children and youth church camps, Carols and Candles Christmas program and etc.
*Work with youth and parents to recruit and maintain the Youth Fellowship program and to help youth grow in spirituality, develop Christian friendships, and promote opportunities to share their God given gifts in the life of the Church. May also include youth mission trips, camps and retreats or other opportunities.
*Be creative in determining the needs of children, youth and adults and serving the needs to the level possible, within the guidelines of the Christian Education of the Methodist Church
*Other responsibilities as negotiated with the Pastor
