Burn Ban Lifted

Please Share to help spread the word

The burn ban has officially been lifted, and residents are now permitted to conduct outdoor burning. However, we strongly encourage everyone to use caution and good judgment when burning.

Please keep the following in mind:
• Avoid burning on windy days
• Keep a water source nearby
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area.

Even though the ban has been lifted, conditions can still change quickly.

We also want to extend a thank you to Chief Deputy Coroner Dana Moseley and RRPSO Captain James Moseley for their continued support and teamwork. And of course, thank you to the Coroner’s Office for always taking care of our crews, especially the great food. It truly means a lot.

In 2025, our department responded to 1,103 total incidents across Red River Parish. These calls included structure fires, grass fires, vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazmat responses, and more.

Each number represents a real person, family, or situation where help was needed, and our firefighters answered the call day and night.

We appreciate the dedication of our members and the continued support from our community. Thank you for trusting us to serve you, and we look forward to continuing that service.

The Red River Fire Protection District wants to remind everyone that when you change your clocks, take a few minutes to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms too!

✅ Test your alarms monthly using the “test” button

✅ Replace alarms that are over 10 years old

✅ Consider upgrading to 10-year sealed battery alarms

✅ Practice your home escape plan — know two ways out of every room

Smoke alarms save lives but only when they work! In 2024, 73 Louisianans died in residential fires, and most of those homes had smoke alarms that were not operational.

If you or someone you know needs a smoke alarm, the Operation Save-A-Life program can help provide and install them for free.
