Today, as families across our parish gather to celebrate Memorial Day, let us never forget the true reason for this day.

Inside the halls of the Red River Parish Courthouse stands this Veterans Memorial, a reminder that some of our very own citizens gave the ultimate sacrifice so we could live free in the greatest nation on earth.

These are not just names on a wall. They represent the sacrifice made by citizens from right here in Red River Parish whose courage and service will never be forgotten.

On behalf of Sheriff Glen Edwards and the entire Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office, we honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. We also remember and pray for the families who carry their memory every single day.

May we never take our freedom for granted and always remember their sacrifice.

May God continue to bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸

Red River Parish Sheriff Glen Edwards is pleased to announce the addition of Jackson Ellis and Cody Mathews to his patrol staff.

Throughout the training, both deputies represented our agency and community with professionalism, determination, and pride. On May 13, 2026, the cadets successfully completed the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy, earning Level 1 Certification for Basic Law Enforcement Peace Officers as outlined by the Louisiana POST Council.

A graduation ceremony was held on May 14, 2026 to recognize the accomplishments of the sixteen member graduating class. During the ceremony, Deputy Mathews was recognized for his exceptional work in the classroom by receiving the coveted Academic Award. Great job Deputy Mathews!

Under the direction of Captain Avery Leary, the academy consisted of fourteen weeks and more than five hundred hours of intense training. Topics covered included officer survival, active shooter response, officer-down scenarios, fi****ms proficiency, physical fitness, and chemical weapons. The training also included legal aspects, criminal justice, defensive tactics, driving, diversity, professionalism, law, patrol/traffic, report writing, investigations, and first aid/CPR.

In today’s world, training is vitally important for law enforcement officers. Our goal is to continually build upon the foundation that our deputies receive in the training academy to ensure that we perform our jobs professionally and safely while striving to serve our community.

Congratulations on a job well done!

Today, the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office was blessed by a special visit from the First Baptist Church of Coushatta ARCH Group.

They stopped by to deliver some delicious cookies, kind words of encouragement, and a heartfelt card thanking our deputies and staff for their service to this community. Gestures like this truly mean more than words can express and serve as a reminder of the amazing support we have here in Red River Parish.

We want to sincerely thank the First Baptist Church of Coushatta ARCH Group for taking the time to think of us and brighten our day. Your prayers, support, and encouragement do not go unnoticed.

We are proud to serve this wonderful community every day.

We were honored to welcome the Riverdale Kindergarten class during their fun-filled field trip across Red River Parish!

The students toured our Sheriff’s Office and 911 Center, where Sheriff Glen Edwards, Chief Greg Moore, Captain James Moseley, and our staff enjoyed showing them around and teaching them about law enforcement and emergency communications.

We appreciate Mrs. Longino and everyone involved in making this such a special and educational day for these children. It’s always a pleasure to invest in the future of our community!
