This article is wonderful!
Well written and it highlights the good. It is so easy to see the bad in an old town that we are working to improve, but there is so much good here in the City of Covington Tennessee and our Historic Covington Square. Thank you to all that continue to invest, improve, and believe in the good and the city we can build together.

There’s something special happening in Covington. Recently recognized as one of the 10 small towns in Tennessee where you can still afford to buy a home, Covingt

Tennessee Statehood Day.
Thank you Senator Rose for reminding us. Proud to be in Tennessee.

Today, we celebrate Tennessee Statehood Day and 230 years of the Volunteer State's proud history.

Since joining the Union as the 16th state on June 1, 1796, Tennessee has been shaped by hardworking families, strong communities, and a steadfast commitment to faith, freedom, and opportunity. As we honor our past, we also look forward to a bright future for generations of Tennesseans.

Congratulations!

On behalf of the Covington Fire Department, it is an honor to recognize our 2026 Exchange Club Firefighter of the Year recipient, Firefighter Terrance Smith.

Firefighter Smith represents everything the fire service stands for — dedication, courage, professionalism, and compassion for others. Earlier this year, after completing a full 24-hour shift, Firefighter Smith was traveling home when he noticed smoke coming from a residence on Turner Lane. Without hesitation, he stopped to investigate and immediately took action to alert the family inside of the danger.

Because of his quick thinking and selfless actions, a family was awakened, evacuated safely, and protected from harm. His commitment to serving others did not end when his shift ended. In that moment, Firefighter Smith demonstrated the true character of a firefighter — always ready to help, no matter the time or circumstance.

Today, we recognize not only an outstanding firefighter, but also an outstanding human being whose actions made a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Firefighter Smith, your dedication to this community brings great pride to the department and to the citizens of Covington. Thank you for your service, your professionalism, and your unwavering commitment to protecting others.

Please join me in congratulating the 2026 Exchange Club Firefighter of the Year, Firefighter Terrance Smith. Mayor Jan HensleyExchange Club of Tipton CountyCity of Covington Tennessee
