Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission is a nonprofit organization that takes a whole person, whole family, whole community approach when serving the Covington, KY community. We help the less fortunate in our community through family services, children’s services, housing services, and career readiness. Our tailored approach finds the needs most-pressing to the community and fills knowledge

gaps through counseling in areas such as credit management and budgeting, providing a toolkit for poverty-stricken families to reach independence.

Over the weekend, NKCAC was excited to host Back-to-School Backpack Giveaways at our Burlington, Eastside, and Newport locations!
Families stopped by and received backpacks filled with school supplies to help students start the new school year ready to learn. In addition to backpacks, families were able to pick up other helpful resources, including diapers, wipes, personal care items, and more.
At NKCAC, we know that preparing for a new school year can be exciting, but it can also come with added expenses for families. Events like these are about more than handing out school supplies. They’re about supporting families, connecting our community with resources, and helping children start the year feeling prepared and confident.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make these events possible and to all of the families who joined us. We loved seeing our communities come together to kick off another great school year!

Last week, NKCAC was excited to welcome back our amazing teaching staff as we kicked off Preservice for the 2026–2027 school year!
Preservice continues this week, and there is so much happening: learning, engaging, connecting, and getting out into our communities. ❤️
A huge thank you to all of our guest speakers who have taken the time to share their knowledge and resources with our team. We also want to recognize our leadership team for their hard work, guidance, and dedication as they help prepare and le another great school year.
We are excited for what’s ahead and ready to make a difference for the children and families we serve! 💙

Lincoln Grant had a wonderful Backpack and Community Social Picnic! Thanks to the incredible generosity of Dollar General, our families received three large boxes filled with backpacks and school supplies, several cases of water, and a generous $1,000 donation to support our community.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious picnic-style lunch, refreshing popsicles, and the opportunity to spend time together before the start of the new school year.
Today's event was about more than school supplies—it was about bringing the NKCAC community together. We were also grateful to welcome the amazing team from CCC, who spoke with several of our residents and offered support and guidance.

Kentucky households can apply for LIHEAP Summer Subsidy from August 3 - September 11, 2026, to help offset cooling costs with a one-time electric benefit. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, or until funds are depleted.
Interested households should contact their local Community Action Agency, based on county of residence, to determine eligibility and complete the application process. To locate the office serving your county, visit www.nkcac.org or call 859-581-6607.
Households must meet eligibility requirements, including household income of up to and including 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines to qualify for assistance. Benefits are paid directly to the household’s electric vendor.
No disconnect notice, past-due bill, or eviction notice is required to apply. Assistance received during previous LIHEAP components does not affect eligibility.
