📢 Upper Tioga River Regional Authority (UTRRA) Information

We have had several residents stop by the Township Office with questions and concerns regarding the UTRRA water project.

While we are always happy to help direct you, the Township Office does not have the information needed to answer questions regarding the water system or the project. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we encourage residents to attend the UTRRA monthly meetings or contact Blossburg Borough directly.

UTRRA meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Covington Township Building, located at 114 East Hill Road. These meetings are open to the public, and all residents are welcome to attend.

📅 The next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

If you have questions, concerns, or would like updates on the water project, attending the meeting is the best opportunity to hear directly from UTRRA representatives and have your questions answered.

We appreciate your understanding and thank you for helping us direct questions to the appropriate organization.

📢 Township Office Closure Notice

Please be advised that the Covington Township Office will be closing early at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, and will be closed on Wednesday, July 15, and Thursday, July 16 due to vacation.

🚧 **TAR & CHIP REMINDER** 🚧

**Weather permitting, Tar & Chip operations are expected to begin today (Tuesday) and be completed tomorrow (Wednesday).** Dust control oil has already been applied in preparation for this project.

📍 **This reminder applies to East Creek Road, Birdland Road, and Barber Road.**

With the warm temperatures over the next couple of days, the road oil and freshly applied Tar & Chip surface will take longer to **cure**.

We kindly ask residents to help protect the newly treated roads by limiting unnecessary travel whenever possible over the next few days.

Please avoid:
🚜 Heavy equipment
🚛 Farm equipment
🚚 Large trucks
🚗 Excessive driving on newly treated roads

If you must travel on these roads, please drive slowly and avoid hard braking, rapid acceleration, or sharp turns whenever possible.

Allowing the road time to properly cure helps the oil and stone bond to the road surface, creating a stronger, longer-lasting roadway. It also helps reduce dust, which means fewer dust complaints throughout the season and provides a better driving surface for everyone.

By giving the roads a little extra time now, you're helping extend the life of the roadway, improve driving conditions for residents, and protect the Township's investment in maintaining our roads. Your cooperation today helps reduce future maintenance costs and keeps our roads in better condition for years to come.

We understand that these roads are traveled daily, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to help the new surface properly cure. A little extra patience now will help ensure a smoother, longer-lasting road for all who use it.

The issue has been reported to Frontier, and they have been notified to respond.

🚧 Road Work Notice 🚧

Midland Asphalt is currently scheduled to complete Tar & Chip on the following roads:

🛣️ East Creek Road – Tuesday, July 14 OR Wednesday, July 15
🛣️ Birdland Road & Barber Road – Wednesday, July 15

Please use caution when traveling through these work areas, expect possible delays, and watch for loose stone. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve our township roads!
