Covington Professional Firefighters Local 38

Covington Professional Firefighters Local 38 Covington Fire Department is a union fire department with the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) Local 38.

The Covington Fire Department is a full service agency of the City of Covington, here to assist our 40,000+ residents, as well as, businesses and visitors, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As a full service agency, we provide not only emergency services, but also information and educational opportunities, which is just a small amount of what we do for the community. The department was inducted as a charter member of the IAFF in 1918.

Huge Thank You to Lincoln Investment for the wonderful donation to Covington Professional Firefighters Local 38 charitable fund. The money will benefit the scholarships that we give out every year for Covington residents seeking higher education that recently graduated Holmes High School.

Yesterday evening, fire units P5, R1, A3 and C9 along with other neighboring fire departments were dispatched to assist Ryland Heights Fire Department for a reported structure fire. The first fire unit on scene confirmed a working structure fire. Crews deployed multiple handlines to in attempt to suppress the fire. Firefighters did have difficulty suppressing the fire due to the layout of the home and a partial collapse that ensued when firefighters were in fire operations. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

After 25 years of dedicated service to our community, our department’s senior member, Captain Mike Davis, has concluded his tenure with the CFD.

Throughout his 25-year career, Captain Davis has been instrumental in the growth of our union. As a vital member of our Executive Board, he played a key role in securing better wages and improved working conditions for our members, leaving a lasting impact on our union.

Throughout his career, he showed tremendous leadership in the firehouse, on emergency calls, and at union events.

Captain Davis also brought countless laughs and unforgettable memories to the firehouse. Many of us owe him a great deal of gratitude. Simply put, he’s a firefighter’s firefighter.

Please join us in thanking Captain Mike Davis for his dedicated service and congratulating him on a well-deserved retirement after an illustrious career. We wish him nothing but happiness and success in this next chapter.
