UT TSU Extension Tipton County UT Extension provides a gateway to the University of Tennessee as the outreach unit of the Institute of Agriculture.

Tipton County offers programs in agriculture and natural resources, 4-H youth development, family and consumer sciences, and resource development. Calling all 4th–12th graders! 🐣 Learn how to show your chickens like a pro and take home the blue ribbon at the Tipton County 4-H Poultry Show Demo! See you on September 9th at 4 PM!

It's that time again: the annual Heritage Festival happening in September.

The Tipton County Extension Office will host the 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off and the 4th Annual Canning Contest.

🌶Chili Cook-Off information🌶
It will be held on Friday, September 25, at our office, 150 Menefee St.
To enter, sign up, and pay the entry fee at our office by Tuesday, September 22nd.
Entry fee per pot of chili is $10.
Drop off your best pot of chili by 5pm on the 25th. Judging starts at 5pm and will end at 5:30pm. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and People's Choice.
Will have the Chili tasting from 5:45pm to 7:30pm. All are welcome to try. If you want to vote for People's Choice, it is $1 per vote, and it is CASH ONLY

🥒Canning Contest Information🍓
Entries will be taken September 22nd and 23rd from 8:30am to 4:30pm at our office. 150 Menefee St.
Prizes will be awarded September 25th during the Chili tasting, 5:45-7:30 pm.
Contest is open to all ages and must be the work of a Tipton County resident.
Canning must be in a standard glass canning jar with the name of the product and your name.

Upcoming and Ongoing Wellness Programs with Family Consumer Science Agent Katie Dees.

New program starting in October!!
Walk and Weight class will be starting on October 6th, 2026, and will be held every Tuesday at 10 AM.
It will be at the Tipton County Extension Office located at 150 Menefee St, Covington, TN 38019

Katie also does Tai Chi for Arthritis two times a week.
Wednesdays at 10 AM at the Tipton County Public Library.

We’re looking for high-resolution photos that celebrate our local, landscapes, agriculture, community, and everyday life. Winning photos will be featured in the 2027 Tipton County UT-TSU Extension Calendar.

📍 Requirement: Photos must be taken in West Tennessee. Youth and Adult submissions are welcome.
