ROAD IMPROVEMENT UPDATE – HOLLY GROVE ROAD

The City of Covington would like to inform residents that milling work on Holly Grove Road is scheduled to begin Thursday and Friday of this week, weather permitting.

Following the milling process, paving is scheduled to begin Monday, June 15th.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone. Please be mindful of construction crews and equipment as they work to improve the roadway.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate Public Works Week with us last week! We had such a great time, and we truly appreciate all of the support from our community.

We enjoyed playing bingo, Public Works Family Feud, and we even had our very own Steve Harvey! It was a week full of fun, laughter, and appreciation for an amazing group of employees.

🗑️ Monday’s pickup will run on Tuesday, Tuesday’s pickup will run on Wednesday, and so forth through the remainder of the week.

🏛️ City offices will also be closed for the holiday.

Repairs on the water main break at Hwy 59 and Houston Gordon Road have been completed, and water service has been fully restored to all affected homes.

Trash Collection Update

Due to unexpected manpower shortages, Monday’s trash collection (3/16/2026) will take place on Tuesday, 3/17/2026.

Our goal is to recover both Monday and Tuesday routes on Tuesday. If anything changes, we will provide an update as soon as possible.

Effective March 2026 -Public Works Update
– Knuckle Boom Pickup Schedule

The City of Covington Public Works Department will now be operating one knuckle boom truck per week instead of two. This change will allow our crews more time to address other maintenance needs throughout the city.

Pickup Schedule:
• Monday & Tuesday: East side (from South to North) of the city
• Wednesday & Thursday: West side (from North to South) of the city
• Friday: Work orders and Limb Removal

To place a work order for Friday’s route, please call 901-476-9613 ext. 1009 and leave a message with your name, address, and the issue that needs to be addressed.

The City of Covington has requested that if you are collecting leaves, please place them in garbage bags and set them out by the road for pickup. This helps keep our streets clean and ensures proper disposal.
