This past weekend, LABG directors, board members, and staff had the honor of attending the Legal Services Corporation Summer Board Meeting in Louisville, KY. Alongside Kentucky's three other LSC-funded legal aid programs — AppalReD Legal Aid, Kentucky Legal Aid, and Legal Aid Society — we showcased the work our programs do every day to advance equal justice for low-income Kentuckians.

A public forum on Reentry and Recovery highlighted the impact of civil legal aid in helping individuals and families rebuild their lives. Our own Carrie Stambaugh had the opportunity to present on her work as an Equal Justice Works Fellow.

We're also grateful to LSC for recognizing outstanding advocates through the Champion of Justice and Pro Bono Awards — a wonderful reminder of the incredible community of legal aid advocates working across our state and nation.

Thank you to everyone at LSC for the chance to celebrate this important work. We left the weekend inspired and proud to be part of such a dedicated network fighting for equal justice for all.

Happy Fourth of July from Legal Aid of the Bluegrass!

This July 4th, we mark 250 years of American independence — and recommit ourselves to the belief that justice should be accessible to all, not just some.

Please note our offices will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, in observance of Independence Day. We will resume normal operations on Monday, July 6th. Wishing everyone a safe holiday.

Behind every case, every client, and every community we serve is a dedicated team giving their all. Last week we celebrated the people who make our work possible — and we couldn't be more proud of what we do together.
We recognized several employees for their years of service: Leigh Anne Adkins (5 years), Kim Iden (15 years), and Jennifer Casey (30 years — what an incredible milestone!). We also presented Stephanie Langguth with the first annual Brandie M. Ingalls Award, given in honor of longtime LABG attorney, colleague, and friend Brandie Ingalls, whose dedication to expanding access to justice continues to inspire our work today.

Did someone call, text, or email and say you have to pay the
government immediately, in a specific way, or you’ll be in trouble? That’s a government imposter. No one from the government will ever demand payment only with gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or a payment app. Only a scammer will.
