September is National Su***de Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, start conversations, and remind people that help is always available.

At STOPS, su***de prevention is about connection, community, and taking one step at a time.

This month, we invite you to do more than raise awareness. Join us for the STOPS Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Abita Springs Trailhead. Whether you run, walk, create a fundraising team, or simply show up in support, your participation helps bring people together around a message of hope and prevention.

Every step helps us continue the conversation, support su***de prevention efforts, and remind our community that no one has to struggle alone.

Visit stopsla.org to learn more and get involved.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Grief after su***de can feel isolating, complicated, and impossible to explain to someone who has not experienced it. You do not have to carry it alone.

The STOPS Survivors of Su***de Support Group offers a compassionate, confidential space for anyone who has lost a loved one to su***de. Come as you are. There is no expectation to have the right words or to be at a certain place in your grief. This is simply a place to connect with others who understand, share when you are ready, and find support along the way.

The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at 60 Louis Prima Drive in Covington, Louisiana.

If you or someone you know has experienced the loss of a loved one to su***de, please share this post. It may reach someone who needs to know they do not have to walk through this alone.
