TAKE ACTION: The so-called "Blue Lives Matter" bill passed the House 77-13 and now heads to the Senate for consideration. The bill adds certain professions to the protected classes covered in hate crime law. Provisions of the bill include crimes against property. In other states similar provisions have been used to charge protestors against police misconduct with hate crimes. There are important ways to support both communities and police, HB14 doesn't address them. Call 1-800-372-7181 and ask your Senators to vote NO on HB14.

The state Senate has a batch of conservative legislation ready for action when the lawmakers return Tuesday. The bills received two floor votes in early January, so they now can be sent to the House with as little as a day’s notice.
