The Stranger Behind the Screen: What Every Parent Needs to Know
My Old Kentucky Home will be hosting its first-ever 411 Parent Meeting Night.
Today’s online landscape has shifted: the threat is no longer the stranger in the white van, but the person behind the screen communicating directly with our youth through gaming apps, social media, and messaging platforms.
We are partnering with SafePassage for a crucial, adults-only presentation to give families the tools and knowledge needed to protect our kids in the digital age.
🎁 Special Perk: The first 20 parents who RSVP and attend the event will receive a free Parent Handbook packed with safety guides and digital resources!
What We’ll Cover:
Online Grooming & S*xtortion: How predators target and manipulate children online.
S*x Trafficking Red Flags: Understanding what modern threats actually look like.
Practical Safeguards: Device privacy settings, monitoring tools, and effective conversation starters for your home.
📅 Date: Sept. 29, 2026
⏰ Time: 5 pm - 7 pm
📍 Location: Old Kentucky Home Middle School Cafe, 301 Wildcat Ln, Bardstown, KY
👥 Audience: Parents, guardians, and caregivers (Adults only due to mature content)

💙🐾 BULLDOGS CAN DO BIG THINGS! 🐾💙

Last week, Cox’s Creek Elementary held our FIRST EVER UFLI Parent Night, and our Bulldog community absolutely showed up!

Our parents became the students for the evening and jumped right into learning what literacy instruction looks and sounds like in our classrooms each day. We had an incredible turnout, lots of participation, and so many families willing to learn right alongside us! 👏📚

We are SO proud of our teachers for leading the learning and sharing their expertise with families, and a huge shoutout to Mrs. Carol Gaskill for having the vision, doing the planning, and bringing this awesome night to life!

This is what Pursuing Excellence looks like — families showing up, teachers leading the way, and an entire school community working together for kids. 💙

At The Creek, we believe Bulldogs CAN do big things… and nights like this prove it! 🐾💙

🎄❤️ HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM ❤️🎄

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and we want to make sure our families know about an available resource to help make Christmas a little brighter for children in our community. 🎁✨

The Salvation Army Angel Tree Holiday Assistance Program is now accepting applications for families who may need assistance this holiday season.

📅 Applications must be submitted by October 30, 2026 — NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you need assistance completing the application, please reach out to the Family Resource & Youth Services Center (FRYSC) at your child’s school. We are happy to help!

📌 Please read the entire application carefully. Income verification is required, and applications without income information will not be accepted. Families must also provide two working phone numbers for contact regarding pickup.

The Salvation Army will notify families by November 20, 2026, if their application is accepted.
