Yesterday at 1552, Greene County, NY 911 started taking multiple calls for a reported structure fire with explosion. Coxsackie fire along with Athens Vol. Fire Department for standby coverage, Town Of Coxsackie Ambulance Service and Greene County Paramedics were dispatched shortly after the calls came in. Within minutes of the initial dispatch, Greene County Sheriff's Office NY arrived on scene advising of a fully involved fire in a brick structure. Right behind, Coxsackie Cars 2 and 3 arrived and immediately requested Athens be upgraded to respond to the scene. The responding Coxsackie ambulance unit requested Medway-Grapeville Fire Co. with their firefighter rehab trailer to respond to the scene to assist. Upon the arrival of Coxsackie Car 1, Earlton Fire Department was requested to the scene with their F.A.S.T team. Upon the arrival of the first apparatus, 1 hand line was stretched into the building and started fire suppression, closely followed by a second line and crew. At 1612 command notated that the bulk of the fire had been knocked down. Also while initially requested to respond, Cornell Hook & Ladder Fire Company ended up being redirected to standby. Due to the suspicion of this fire being arson, the Greene County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to work alongside the sheriffs office for investigation. While in operations, a crew was sent to the roof to ventilate the structure as crews were operating inside. While operations were taking place, an additional ambulance was requested to the scene as there was a firefighter who needed to be transported due to sustaining minor injuries on the scene. Also on scene, were members of the Coxsackie Fire Department Auxiliary who provided refreshments to units on scene. At 1830, fire units were clear of the scene. But at 1927, Coxsackie car 1 responded back to the scene with an apparatus due to receiving a call stating the building had heavy smoke inside. As of 1959 all fire units were cleared and remained clear for the night.
Due to the quick work of the sheriffs office while firefighters were in operations, multiple suspects were identified ultimately leading to the arrest of at least one individual for their involvement.

The Coxsackie Fire Department would like to thank everyone that was involved in the operations and quick handle on the situation before it could get out of hand and become worse than it was.
