With the recent rainfall we are lifting the burn ban. Fire pits & burn barrels are permitted. Burning of anything else you will need to obtain a burn permit. Please continue to use safety precautions & burn responsibly.

Tuesday night at our monthly training, we were fortunate to have Austin Klemm from the South Loup Burn Association join us. With the recent wildfires that have occurred over the last couple of months, the training focused on the benefits of conducting a controlled back burn, including fire management, land conservation, and safety practices.
We appreciate him taking the time to share his knowledge and experience with our department. It’s always great to continue learning, training, and working together to better serve our communities. 🔥👨‍🚒

CVFD will be performing live fire training this evening at the city tree dump. Please don’t be alarmed if you see flames or smoke in this area. This is a controlled drip torch training. Thank you!

CVFD responded to a mutual aid for north of Cozad for Oconto this afternoon. We responded with 2 type 6 grass rigs, 1 tactical water tender and 7 personelle. It's still incredibly dry out in the area, use caution when working or playing outdoors. Great work by all responding departments.

CVFD sent one type 6 (grass rig) with 3 members north to the Pressey Fire yesterday. Great teamwork by all. Its great to work with Departments from near and far, let's pray for rain and relief. That being said, keep your head on a swivel and be fire smart.
