REMINDER…. No trailers are allowed to be parked on City Streets effective October 1st. Campers and trailers are no longer permitted to be parked on the streets until April 1st. Construction crews can stop at the city office for a permit if they are working at a residence. Thank you!

Important reminder regarding Elementary pick up and drop off:
14th St. is used for drop off and pick up. No one is to use C St. between 14th and 15th St. as this is a one way street before and after school and is blocked at 15th St. We will add a crossing guard at the 14th and C intersection. Please adhere to all rules of the road as you drop off and pick up students. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM SATURDAY TO 6 PM SUNDAY.

* WHAT...Freezing drizzle, snow, and blowing snow expected. Total
snow and sleet accumulations between 5 and 8 inches, with locally
higher amounts near a foot possible. Total ice accumulations up to
one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and south central
Nebraska.

* WHEN...From 9 AM Saturday to 6 PM CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Roads will likely become slick and hazardous.
Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing
snow.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing drizzle is expected to develop
throughout the day on Saturday before mixing with and changing
to snow Saturday night. Near-blizzard conditions are possible late
Saturday night into Sunday morning, particularly along and south
of the state line, due to combination of heavy snow rates and
strong northerly wind gusts of 30 to 35 MPH. Snow and strong
winds will taper off from west to east Sunday afternoon and
evening, but very cold temperatures will persist into Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden
changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the
motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your
destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order.

* WHAT...Periods of light freezing drizzle, snow, and blowing snow
expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches and
ice accumulations around a light glaze.

* WHERE...York and Hamilton Counties.

* WHEN...From 9 AM Saturday to 6 PM CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Roads will likely become slick and hazardous.
Visibilities may drop as low as 1/2 mile due to falling and
blowing snow.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing drizzle is expected to develop
throughout the day on Saturday before mixing with and changing
to snow Saturday night. Once precipitation changes to snow,
northerly winds will increase and gust up to around 30 MPH,
resulting in blowing and drifting snow. Snow and strong winds will
taper off from west to east Sunday afternoon and evening, but
very cold temperatures will persist into Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while
driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken
on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and
slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

UPDATE: Due to a large hail event in northern Nebraska over the weekend, the Hail Restoration Event scheduled for 11am on Tuesday, September 10 at the Cozad Haymaker Grand Generation Center has been canceled. However, the EVENT AT THE WILSON PUBLIC LIBRARY IS STILL HAPPENING AT 5:30PM. Arnold Insurance, Megan Fales Shelter Insurance Agency, and Homestead Bank will also be in attendance. The first 10 people to enter will receive a prize courtesy of Shelter Insurance.
