Wilson Public Library in Cozad again sponsors a Star Party, this year on Friday, August 7. Grab a glow-in-the dark necklace at the west gate around 8:30pm at the Cozad High School football field, then use the track to walk to the north end where the Platte Valley Astronomical Observers will be (weather permitting) from dusk until at least 10pm with their large telescopes. Bring your own binoculars or telescopes, or bring a device with a free stargazing app downloaded. The amateur astronomers will be glad to help you with any device and point out interesting objects in the sky, from planets to nebulas to a number of constellations. In case of inclement weather, check the library’s page.

Wow! So thankful for our incredible staff, our amazing community, and the opportunity to encourage people to Make Their Mark!

TOWN-WIDE DOT DAY! Just got this photo from - which is a replica of a graphic Peter H. Reynolds created to explain . Cozad was the first city in the U.S. that we know of to enlist the ENTIRE community to celebrate ! As they shared, "In 2026, Cozad’s Wilson Public Library gears up to commemorate its 14th year of celebrating International Dot Day. Inspired by the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, Director Laurie Yocom and then-Children’s Director Ann Matzke originally invited this Nebraska community of 4,000-ish to take part in September 2013 and have continued the observance each year, even as staff changes."
