The dates for the workshop are Friday, 10/31 - Sunday, 11/9.

The Craftsbury Energy Committee's Community Firewood Program for income-limited households had 3 cords of split firewood taken on Friday, 7/18 without permission.

It happened between 4 - 5 pm on Friday.

There was a sighting of a matching red truck and large, red trailer with sides pulling into the firewood area around 4.

There was probably a second truck to take that much firewood.

If anyone knows who might own a combination red truck and cargo trailer with sides, please contact us.

You would remain anonymous.

For the sixth year the Community Firewood Program offers a cord of firewood to those households who are not able to afford all of their wood heating needs.

We deliver the firewood in the spring to an average of 20 households per year in the Craftsbury and the immediate 5-town area.

We had planned on writing a grant this fall for building a secure, dry woodshed for the extra firewood that we carry over the winter for emergency purposes, but our federal administration has taken that possible funding away, along with funding for emergency fuel assistance in the state.

If anyone would like to donate towards the construction of a secure woodshed, we would gladly put it to good use!

If so, please contact the Town Clerk's office, or drop a check off!

Thanks!

The Craftsbury Energy Committee will be at the Craftsbury Holiday Farmers Market, on Saturday, Dec., 14th, 11 - 2 in the Craftsbury Academy Gym.

In the last 5 years we have built almost 1,000 window inserts.

We also give away 10 Free Inserts to homeowners & renters who cannot afford them - no application!

What is a window insert? It is a 1” x 2” frame of pine that is precision-fit to the inside of your window with two layers of transparent plastic wrapped around the pine frame and an expandable foam gasket around the outside edge to create a draft seal.

The inserts create two additional layers of insulating air space.
They are reusable and leave no residue on your window trim.

Window inserts save on average 8 gallons of heating oil each winter for an average 3' x 4' window.
They also greatly reduce moisture condensation on the windows, even in the bathroom.

Thank you very much to the volunteers who contributed their time to make the 2024 Window Insert Construction Workshop a success!!!

These window inserts will keep your neighbors warmer for a long time!

We built 242 window inserts for Craftsbury and 50 for Albany!

According to rough calculations, there were over 80 people who showed up and volunteered their time!
A number of them contributed to multiple sessions to compile over 500 hours of effort!

Along with staying warmer this winter they will save a lot of money on heating bills and reduce carbon emissions!

Thanks again!!!
