It is with heavy hearts that the Saugerties Fire Department mourns the passing of our brother and fellow firefighter, James “Jimmy” Gage.

Jim was more than a member of the fire service he was a friend, a brother, and part of the Saugerties Fire Department family. His dedication, service, and the memories he created with his fellow firefighters will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Jim’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.

Rest easy, Jim. Your watch is over.

As more information has come to light and been released we see that this was a cruel and tragic incident taking the life of an individual. Mindy deserves more.
Our emergency service family is dealing with and coming to terms with this tragedy. We do not condone these actions and stand with Mindy and her family.

We send condolences to Town of Newburgh Police and Detective Thompson’s Family.
Rest easy Detective, your watch is over, Thank You for your service to your community.

It is with extremely heavy hearts that the Town of Newburgh PBA announces the passing of Detective Christopher Thompson.

Detective Thompson began his career with the Town of Newburgh Police Department in April of 2017, after previously serving with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Wallkill Police Department.

Throughout his career, Detective Thompson served the Town of Newburgh Police Department in numerous roles and was a valued member of several specialized units. He served in the Patrol Division, as a K-9 Handler with the K-9 Unit, an active Fi****ms Instructor with the Fi****ms Unit, a General Topics Instructor, and a Team Leader on the Department’s Tactical Unit. Most recently, Detective Thompson served as an Investigator in the Detective Bureau.

Detective Thompson’s dedication to his profession, his fellow officers, and the community he served will not be forgotten. His loss is deeply felt throughout our Department and the entire law enforcement community.

We ask that everyone keep Detective Thompson’s family, friends, and fellow officers in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

The Town of Newburgh PBA would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone within the law enforcement community, our local community, and beyond who has reached out and offered their thoughts, prayers, condolences, and support during this difficult time. The outpouring of support for Detective Thompson, his family, and our Department has been truly appreciated.

Services to honor Detective Christopher Thompson are currently being arranged. Additional information regarding the services will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.

PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT

Throughout New York State, we are seeing an increase in crashes and incidents involving e-bikes and e-scooters. If you are operating an e-bike or e-scooter, please be educated on the requirements and restrictions by state law. Within the New York State Vehicle & Traffic Law, section 1242 sets forth the guidelines for use of e-bikes and section 1282 sets for those for e-scooters. There are provisions set forth regarding juveniles and parents/guardians can be issued citations for allowing those under the age of 16 years old to ride both e-bikes and scooters. If you ride one of these, please adhere to the applicable laws and be cognizant of your surroundings to make the roadways safer for everyone.

Cragsmoor Fire Company is saddened to hear of Coldenham Fire Departments fire this morning. They lost their firehouse and some equipment.

We stand with our Brothers and Sisters, and support them through this difficult time.

The Cragsmoor Fire Company participated in the 91st annual UCVFA Convention and Parade in Napanoch today. Our men and women have been working on our engine and the work paid off!

We are proud to announce we won two 1st place trophies!!!

1st Place Pumper in County

Big Shout out to our neighbors Walker Valley Fire Company, Kerhonkson Fire Company, and Ellenville Fire Department for their Trophy wins today!!

This week our men and women are going to be busy cleaning our engine and polishing our shoes to participate in the Ulster County Convention and Parade. We will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of our neighbors down the mountain Napanoch Fire Company.
Come out Saturday and watch! Parade starts at 1pm in Napanoch!
