NORTH FORK FIRE UPDATE 08/20/26

The North Fork Fire is contained at 28.6 acres.

A quick response from fire personnel, combined with favorable conditions and little to no wind, helped crews get around the fire and keep it from spreading further.

Crews will remain on scene today working hot spots and continuing mop-up operations.

Thank you to all of the firefighters and personnel who responded quickly and worked to contain the fire.

🔥 WILDLAND FIRE – NORTH FORK FIRE 🔥

Fire crews are actively fighting the North Fork Fire, located south of Highway 40 near Moffat County Road 15.

Crews from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Fire/Rescue, and U.S. wildland fire resources are currently on scene.

Smoke is visible from Highway 40 and surrounding areas. Please avoid the area and give firefighters and emergency equipment plenty of room to work.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Cedar Mountain Rope Rescue

At approximately 9:30 a.m. today, the Craig Regional Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a juvenile male who had fallen down the side of Cedar Mountain, sustaining serious injuries.

Craig Fire Rescue and Moffat County Search and Rescue responded and conducted a technical rope rescue to safely reach and remove the injured juvenile from the mountainside.

Memorial Regional Health provided medical care, and CareFlight of the Rockies responded to Cedar Mountain. The juvenile was transported by helicopter to a medical facility outside the area for further treatment.

We appreciate the quick response, teamwork, and professionalism of Craig Fire Rescue, Moffat County Search and Rescue, Memorial Regional Health, and CareFlight of the Rockies.

Please keep the young man and his family in your thoughts as he receives care.

08/02/26 at 7:25pm Pine Ridge Fire Update – Moffat County

The wildfire reported today near Moffat County Road 64 has officially been named the Pine Ridge Fire.

The fire is currently estimated at 24 acres, and crews remain on scene conducting mop-up operations to extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure the fire is fully secured.

The fire was determined to have been human-caused after juveniles were playing with matches and fireworks. Thanks to the quick response of the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Fire Crew, Craig Fire Rescue, U.S. Wildland Fire Service, and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC), the fire was quickly contained and prevented from spreading further.

Public Safety Reminder

This incident is a reminder that matches and fireworks are never toys. In the current dry conditions, it only takes a single spark to start a wildfire that can threaten lives, homes, livestock, and our public lands. Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about the dangers and consequences of playing with fire.

Thank you to all of the firefighters and first responders for their outstanding work today, and thank you to the public for avoiding the area while crews complete suppression and mop-up operations.

Initial release-Wildfire Response – Moffat County Road 64

Craig Fire Rescue, the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Fire Crew, and the U.S. Wildland Fire Service responded to a wildland fire in the area of Moffat County Road 64 today.

Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, crews were able to quickly establish containment lines around the fire and prevent further spread.

Firefighters remain in the area conducting suppression and mop-up operations. For everyone’s safety, please stay out of the area and avoid interfering with firefighting operations.
