Thank you to this JPD Officer for protecting and serving our community!
Jonesboro FOP Officer of the Month
April 2018
Jonesboro Police Department
Off. Blaine Middlecoff
On 4-29-18, Officers Tyler Wilson and Blaine Middlecoff responded to a child custody dispute. Officers were there to assist the custodial mother in getting her child from the non-custodial father. As the father was turning the toddler over to the mother, he quickly presented a knife and attempted to stab the mother. In doing so, the father missed and stabbed the sweet child in an injury that went completely through the child’s arm.
Due to the injury, the child began losing large amounts of blood. While Off. Wilson dealt with the suspect, Off. Middlecoff rushed the mother and child out of the residence to his patrol vehicle. He rendered medical aid to the child; including applying his department issued C.A.T Tourniquet on the child’s injured arm, above the wound, in efforts to control the bleeding while waiting for EMS to arrive. EMTs on scene advised that with the amount of blood loss at the scene as well as on Off. Middlecoff’s vehicle, the quick access and application of the tourniquet, probably saved the child from bleeding to death.
Due to the immediate response and actions of Off. Blaine Middlecoff, as well as serving the citizens of Jonesboro every day with a smile, he was nominated and ultimately selected as the April 2018 Jonesboro FOP Officer of the Month.
