Join the City of Crane and our community partners on Friday, September 11, 2026, as we come together to remember those lost on September 11, 2001, honor the heroes and first responders who answered the call, and turn remembrance into service.

The City of Crane has officially proclaimed September 11, 2026, as a “9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance,” encouraging citizens to observe the day through community service and remembrance.
❤️ A Day of Remembrance — and the Beginning of a Month of Service
Our September 11 gathering will include an inspiring speaker, remembrance activities and opportunities for people of all ages to serve our community.
Activities and projects will include food bagging, letter writing for military members, veterans and first responders, bell ringing and remembrance, student art, a community food drive, and other acts of service.
And September 11 is just the beginning!
We are encouraging individuals, families, businesses, churches, civic organizations and neighborhoods to continue performing acts of service through October 4, 2026, including Missouri Good Neighbor Week, September 28–October 4.
Need an idea? University of Missouri Extension's 101 Acts of Neighboring offers dozens of simple ways to make a difference—from helping a neighbor with a chore or organizing a neighborhood cleanup to thanking a veteran or first responder, collecting food, welcoming a new neighbor or simply taking time to get to know the people who live around you.
🥫 Help Us Restock the North Stone County Food Pantry
We will collect nutritious shelf-stable food through October 4. Donations can include canned vegetables, canned meats, soups and stews, pasta, rice, beans, cereal, peanut butter and other shelf-stable foods.
Donation locations: City of Crane City Hall, 120 N. Commerce St.; Stone County Library, 204 Main St.; North Stone County Food Pantry, 215 Main St.; and Sun Fest Market, 209 Courtney Lane.

The community effort is being spearheaded by City Clerk Tina Didreckson and Chief of Police Mike Cupp, with support from the City of Crane, Discover Crane, North Stone County Food Pantry, Sun Fest Market and Stone County Library.
