The strength of Crane is its people.

On June 9, NWSC Crane welcomed Mr. Henry Creque, SES, Deputy Commander/Comptroller for NAVSEA, for a base familiarization tour, Comptroller All Hands, and Meet the Mission: TEAM Crane Day.
Throughout the visit, Mr. Creque engaged directly with employees, observed mission ex*****on, and experienced the teamwork and dedication that define Crane.

His takeaway after seeing the command firsthand:“[Crane has the] Strongest culture of all the Warfare Centers I’ve visited so far.”

This recognition reflects the pride, leadership, and shared purpose of the Crane workforce. That culture strengthens our ability to deliver critical capabilities for the Nation and its Warfighters.

Recently, our base hosted Meet the Mission: TEAM Crane Day, an internal expo designed to build camaraderie and showcase how every organization on base contributes to our shared goals.

Personnel had the opportunity to network, explore NSWC Crane technical mission hardware displays, and visit information booths from our mission partners, including NWS Crane, NAVFAC, EOD, and CAAA. While this event was just for our workforce, it plays a vital role in helping our teams collaborate across the base and gain a better understanding of how all our moving parts work together as one cohesive unit.

Proud of the shared sense of community that makes us TEAM Crane! ⚓⚙️

The modern battlefield isn't just physical—it is digital.

To cultivate elite, real-world information security skills, the NSWC Crane Tactical Cyber Testing Branch (MXLS), through its TACIT Lab, recently hosted a team for the Red Zone vs. Blue Zone cyber competition.

Operating in an isolated, virtual "Cyber Range" that mirrors actual enterprise networks, our personnel faced off in the ultimate digital proving ground.

🔴 The Red Team: Conducted advanced threat simulations to uncover and remediate hidden system exposures.

🔵 The Blue Team: Operated under continuous simulated attack, hunting anomalies and executing rapid containment strategies.

By rigorously evaluating skills like mobile forensics, cloud log analysis, and directory defense across 43 complex objectives, NSWC Crane ensures our cyber professionals are fully prepared to defend the Department of War's critical infrastructure.

Today, on the 84th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, we honor the legacy of those who gave everything. At NSWC Crane, history is personal. One of our contracting employees remembers their uncle, Ensign William Robinson Evans Jr., who was Killed In Action on this day in 1942.

An Indianapolis native destined for medical school, Ensign Evans instead enlisted in 1940, joining Torpedo Squadron Eight aboard the USS Hornet. At just 23, he was the youngest in his squadron. During the battle, knowing they lacked the fuel to return, the squadron bravely engaged the Japanese fleet. All planes were lost, with only one survivor.

Declared KIA over a year later, Ensign Evans was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross, Gold Star, and Presidential Unit Citation. In his final letter, he wrote: "My luck can’t hold out much longer, but the flame goes on and on—that is important." Today, we ensure that flame continues to burn.

This week, we commemorate the 84th anniversary of the Battle of Midway—a defining naval victory forged through superior intelligence, sacrifice, and unparalleled human courage that fundamentally altered the course of the war in the Pacific.

Honoring Midway is not just about remembering the past; it is about actively applying its lessons today. At NSWC Crane, we embody that historic warfighting ethos by prioritizing absolute combat readiness. By delivering innovative solutions and technical excellence, we ensure our Navy and Joint Forces have the tools they need to dominate the modern battlespace and face a new era of strategic competition.

We remember the heroes of Midway, and we honor them by ensuring today's Warfighters remain the most elite and lethal force in the world.

It's ! In low-light operational environments, even the smallest gear improvements can save critical seconds.

To enhance standard-issue gear, NSWC Crane inventors have developed Tactical Chem Light Caps. These ergonomic, snap-on end caps instantly upgrade standard chemical light sticks—providing a robust, non-slip grip (perfect for gloved hands), a lanyard loop for secure attachment, and an integrated breaching tip.
This low-cost, reusable technology presents an excellent market opportunity for tactical gear, law enforcement, and outdoor safety manufacturers.

NSWC Crane is actively seeking partners to license this practical and effective solution. Learn how you can bring this innovation to market: https://techlinkcenter.org/technologies/tactical-chem-light-caps/cb85d7b5-3845-404d-a9af-39bdbcb11e7d
