We are so proud of CVFD Junior Firefighter Gabby Agayev for stepping out of her comfort zone & running for Albion Area Fair Queen last month.

Gabby, 17, is an empathic old soul, who said she joined CVFD because she was there as a child when first responders came to help her Grandma. She said she realized what an impact these volunteers make on people's lives.

Gabby said she is grateful to have had the opportunity to be on this year's Queen's Court, & she most appreciated being with people.

"I loved getting to spend time with people I care about & haven't seen in a long time. There's some people I only see at the fair - like one of the security ladies," Gabby said. "I also really enjoyed the beep, beep parades. The golf cart drivers would always give us rides, which was so helpful."

Members of the Court have responsibilities & appearances to make all day, every day of the fair, & they spend months preparing prior to the Queen competition. They participate in community events & fair promotional efforts.

Congratulations on a job well done, Gabby. We are honored to have your caring, compassionate & hardworking spirit serving alongside us!👑🚑🚒

Erie County Department of Public Safety Siren Test — Upcoming Schedule

The Erie County Department of Public Safety will conduct its next quarterly storm siren test on October 15, 2026 at 12:30 PM for West County, Edinboro and Mckean.

We are teaming up with NFPA to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week™, October 4 -10, Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower. Help us spread the word that everyday actions can help prevent lithium-ion battery fires. Use your charging superpower by making smart choices every time you plug in.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

For the month of September , it was a busy one. Cranesville was dispatched to a total of 88 incidents throughout the month. These calls include a standard variety of emergencies and service request, including:

Fire and storm hazard mitigation
Emergency Medical Services
Motor Vehicle Accidents
Mutual aid assistance to our neighboring departments

In addition, we provided 463 man hours of on-site EMS and Fire Safety coverage for the Albion Fair.
