CFAS staffed 2 ambulances for the Cranford High graduation at Memorial Field while our Tuesday crew remained at the building with a 3rd ambulance for calls in town. It was a beautiful, perfect night for outdoor graduation and a busy one in town, with 5 emergency medical calls.

🎓 Senior Spotlight: Kiran 🎓

As graduation approaches, we would like to recognize Kiran and celebrate her accomplishments and contributions to CFAS.

Kiran is a senior at Cranford High School and will be attending the University of South Carolina Honors College this fall, where she plans to study Public Health.

When asked about her favorite CFAS memory, Kiran shared that carving pumpkins with fellow members and competing at Cadet Competition were among her most memorable experiences.

As a dedicated member of the Saturday shift, Kiran says she will miss spending Saturdays at the squad the most—playing games, watching movies, and making memories with her fellow members.

Thank you, Kiran, for everything you have contributed to CFAS. We are proud of all you have accomplished and wish you the very best as you begin this exciting new chapter.

On Saturday, our cadets traveled to Keyport to compete in the annual Cadet Competition. After months of hard work, preparation, and dedication, our teams earned an impressive 1st and 4th place finish!

We are incredibly proud of every member who participated and represented CFAS so well. A special thank you goes to our Training Lieutenant, Jaden, for organizing countless training sessions and helping prepare our teams for success. We would also like to thank our advisors for their guidance, support, and attention to detail throughout the preparation process.

Beyond the competition, everyone enjoyed a great day exploring the various emergency apparatus on display, including a MedEvac helicopter landing.

Congratulations to all of our competitors on a fantastic performance and for showcasing the hard work, teamwork, and commitment that make our cadet program so successful!

Several of our members recently attended Mahwah EMS’s “An Evening Discussion” with Dr. Letizia, Physician Assistant students, and medical residents. The event provided valuable insight into careers in healthcare, including education pathways, clinical training, and real-world experiences. Thank you to Mahwah EMS for hosting an informative and engaging evening and to Dr. Letizia for making this possible.

Last Sunday we were very grateful to be a part of Touch-a-Truck and explain our ambulance and equipment to the curious participants. Our members got to show how we are able to help so many different people in Cranford and nearby towns whenever needed. They were also able to learn more about the equipment and vehicles of fellow first responders. It was a great opportunity to interact with the community and show them what we do!

We’re excited to announce that we will be hosting a new summer camp for teens who are interested in EMS/Medicine! This is a great opportunity to get exposure and experience in the field. Campers will build confidence, teamwork, leadership, and lifesaving skills in a community environment. Campers will gain knowledge on how to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Three of our High School members were selected. Congratulations Eliana Ruan, Kiran Shusterman and Wyatt Timpson. All three are EMTs and attend their shift every single week for 4.5 hours minimum, along with many other events. To become an EMT requires a 16-week course of 250 hours training.

Proud to be awarding a record $55,000 in scholarships to the Class of 2026! These Cranford students have served our community and demonstrated strong leadership and character qualities in addition to their academic accomplishments.
