Cranston historic cemetery #2 with many civil war veterans interned their.Cemetery has only one paved road with the rest either dirt or grassy paths.Cemetery is currently going thru renovations and improvement.Grounds are surrounded by water with only access across small bridge that was recently replaced.Nice place for short walks with or without your pet.Cemetery is on a bus route. This sits on 15.8 acres of land.

A special thank you to the Elisha Dyer Camp No. 7 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War for flagging the graves of Cicil War veterans buried at Pocasset today.

Andrew J. Re*****on was born in Scituate, Rhode Island in late 1843 or early 1844. He was the son of Thomas and Almira Re*****on. The family resided in the Hope section of the town. He was one of at least six children.

On September 28, 1861 Andrew enlisted as a Private in the Union Army. About a month later he was assigned to Company I, 4th Infantry Regiment Rhode Island.

Sadly, Andrew would die of disease in Washington, D.C. on March 5, 1862. He was just 18 or 19 years old at the time. His remains were returned to Rhode Island and he was buried at Pocasset Cemetery in Cranston.

About 4th Infantry Regiment RI.....

Organized at Providence, 1861. Left state for Washington, D. C., October 2. At Camp Casey till November 28, and at Camp California till December 14. Mustered in October 30, 1861. Attached to Casey's Provisional Division, Army of the Potomac.

Regiment lost during service 5 Officers and 68 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 67 Enlisted men by disease. Total 140.
