To all of our Senior friends, please take a look at this great opportunity! What a wonderful program for us and our community!
ATTENTION OGLETHORPE RESIDENTS
Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter (MOAS) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant to provide for underserved animals in Oglethorpe County, providing vaccinations for 1,000 pets in Oglethorpe County whose owners need financial assistance. Read on to hear more and get details for the first free clinic to be held on March 2nd.
The grant, provided by Banfield Foundation, will enable MOAS to offer vaccinations for rabies, distemper, parvovirus, deworming for some common intestinal parasites, and other preventable diseases that can affect pets. MOAS will also be providing a one time flea prevention for pets who have active fleas.
This initiative aims to improve the health and well-being of pets in the Oglethorpe community who have less access to the shelter and veterinary care, while also promoting responsible pet ownership through basic preventative care.
"We are incredibly grateful for this grant, as it allows us to make a significant impact on the lives of pets and their owners in Oglethorpe County," said Shaina Knight, Grants Coordinator of MOAS. "Vaccinations are a crucial part of keeping pets healthy and preventing the spread of disease, and we are thrilled to be able to offer this service free of charge to those who need it most."
Pet owners in need in Oglethorpe County who are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity are encouraged to come to our first free vaccine clinic on March 02, 2024. The clinic will be held from 10:AM with the last patient check in at 1:30PM, at Meson Park : 214 E Church St. Lexington, GA 30648
Vaccinations will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and the shelter would like to remind you there are a few rules to keep in mind.
Rules: You must have proof of residency in Oglethorpe County (Government issued ID), Dogs must be on a secure leash and collar, please make sure it is snug during the event so no dogs back out of their collars. Cats must be in a carrier. Do not leave excrement behind, if your dog uses the restroom, bags will be provided for clean up. Do NOT allow pets to interact with others, while your pet may like other dogs, someone else's may not and for safety reasons no dogs from separate households should interact. MOAS reserves the right to refuse anyone who cannot follow these rules for the safety of the people and animals attending the event.
There will be no need to pre-register for this event and MOAS is ecstatic to be able to help our community members and animals in need.
