With colder temperatures settling in, please take extra precautions to stay safe—limit time outdoors, check on neighbors, and ensure everyone has a warm place to go.
Warming stations are available throughout Montgomery County (see below) for anyone in need of a safe, warm place during this cold weather.

🥶 EXTREME COLD & WINTER WEATHER UPDATE - STAY SAFE & WARM 🥶
Montgomery County is experiencing dangerously cold temperatures, with wind chills as low as -15° to -20°, and the potential for significant winter weather this weekend. These conditions can become dangerous quickly, and it is important to take steps now to protect yourself and others.
❄️ Current Weather Concerns
• Cold Weather Advisory in effect through Friday
• Wind chills well below zero, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia
• Winter Storm Watch in effect for Saturday–Sunday, with accumulating snow possible
• Prolonged sub-freezing temperatures expected into next week
🩺 Health & Safety Impacts
Extreme cold can cause:
• Frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10–30 minutes
• Hypothermia, especially in older adults, children, and those without reliable heat
• Increased strain on heating systems and risk from improper heating methods

These locations are available for anyone who:
• Does not have adequate heat
• Is experiencing heating or power issues
• Needs a warm place during extreme cold
✅ What You Can Do
• Use warming stations if your home is not safely heated
• Limit time outdoors and dress in layers, hats, and gloves
• Cover exposed skin to prevent frostbite
• Bring pets indoors and ensure livestock have shelter and water
• Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and those living alone
• Use heaters safely. Never use grills or generators indoors
