Wakulla County Schools is partnering with Who We Play For to offer ECG heart screenings for students on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Wakulla Middle School.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida’s Second Chance Act will require certain student-athletes to complete an ECG screening before participating in school athletics.

Who Must Obtain an ECG:
•All incoming 9th-grade student-athletes (2026-27)
•Any student in grades 10–12 who has never participated in an FHSAA-sanctioned sports
•Returning athletes are not required but strongly encouraged to obtain an ECG. The goal is to identify undetected cardiac risk factors and enhance athlete safety.

Screenings are $20, and financial assistance is available for families who need it. Options will be provided during the registration process.

🏀🔥 FINAL SCORE: Teachers — still undefeated. Students — better luck next year. 😎 The WMS Faculty vs. Student Basketball Game was one for the books! The students came in confident… but the teachers came in with experience, teamwork, and knees held together by pure determination. 💪😂 From surprise three-pointers to “veteran moves” that definitely weren’t traveling 👀, our faculty proved once again that WMS staff always finds a way to come out on top! Huge shoutout to all the students and staff who played, cheered, and made the game such a fun event. We may teach during the day, but apparently we still have game after school too! 🏀🐾
