Wakulla County Fire Cadets Building Wakulla County's future Firefighters and EMS Professionals, Ages 14 - 19.

Wakulla County Fire Rescue is a combination Fire and EMS service located in Wakulla County, Florida. Wakulla County is a bedroom community to Tallahassee, Florida and is located approximately 25 miles south of Tallahassee's city center, located on Florida's Gulf Coast. WCFR provides fire and EMS services to Wakulla County through both full-time and flex firefighters and EMTs, as well as 10 volunteer fire stations. Wakulla County Fire Explores Post 12 was organized in 2007 as a means to provide an opportunity to provide for Wakulla County's youth to become intersted in careers in the fire and EMS services, and as a pipeline for youth grow in to our career in volunteer ranks as they become adults. In 2014, the post reorganized as a Fire/Rescue Cadet post under the Florida Fire Chief's Association Fire/Rescue Cadet Program, while still maintaining it's affiliation with the Learning for Life Explorer Program. WCFR Cadets is an exciting program for youth ages 14 - 18, who are interested or just exploring a career in firefighting or EMS. New members must be ages 14 (in high school) - 18, be in good health, maintain good grades, agree to comply with the Fire Cadet manual, and be ready for excitement. Each month cadets will learn new skills related to the fire and EMS services, and have opportunities to complete training and certification towards their Firefighter I certification and First Responder certification when they reach age 18. In addition, cadets attend skills competitions with other cadets and explorers posts, and may attend team building events. Funding available, all expenses are paid through funds raised by the program, making this a low cost activity for youth. Community service opportunities are available for youth needing to complete hours for school programs. We encourage any youth or parent interested to please watch our page for updates!

Last night we were invited to help Wakulla County Fire Rescue feed the Wakulla High Football team, and our cadets were happy to lend a hand! ❤️💙

There’s just something special about a small town where everyone comes together and looks out for one another. Seeing our local first responders and our young athletes come together was a great reminder of what makes our community so special.

Our cadets are always willing to step up, serve their community, and lend a hand wherever they’re needed. We’re proud to see them learning that being part of the fire service is about more than emergency response — it’s about teamwork, service, and being there for your community.

Just another good night in Wakulla County! ❤️🏈🦅

They’re coming home with some great memories, soggy gear, and SEVEN trophies — including TWO 1st place trophies! 🏆🏆

We are incredibly proud of the teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship these cadets showed throughout the day. They worked hard, competed hard, and represented Wakulla County Fire Rescue with pride!

What a way to make some memories at the very

Heading home from an incredible weekend at the Summer Gator Fire Games! 🔥

Our cadets had fun, worked hard, challenged themselves, and most importantly, grew stronger as a team. We couldn’t be prouder of all ten of them and everything they accomplished this weekend.

We’re heading home tired, proud, and excited for what’s next for the Wakulla County Fire Cadets! 🚒

Four of our Wakulla County Fire Cadets took on the FPAT Challenge today, and they absolutely ROCKED it! 💪🧑‍🚒

But as proud as we are of how they performed, the real victory was watching them discover that they are capable of so much more than they thought they were.

Today was about more than competition. It was about teamwork, unity, perseverance, and learning how to lift each other up. We watched our cadets cheer on their competitors, support their teammates through the highs and lows, push through when things got tough, and celebrate each other’s accomplishments.

That is why we do this. ❤️
