Thank you Keep Wakulla County Beautiful !
Congratulations UF IFAS Extension Wakulla County! Wakulla 4-H and UF/IFAS Extension have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to environmental education, stewardship, and youth engagement throughout Wakulla County. Through their Natural Resources and Environmental Education Program, they provide hands-on learning experiences that connect young people directly to the natural environments that make Wakulla County unique. Programs include hiking, marine science exploration, environmental service learning, geocaching, gardening, fishing, forestry education, and wildlife ecology.
Since 2018, hundreds of youth have participated in Wakulla 4-H environmental and natural resource programs designed to build both scientific knowledge and a lifelong appreciation for conservation. Their clubs and educational programs encourage youth to become active environmental stewards through real-world experiences rather than textbook learning alone.
Wakulla 4-H has also partnered with organizations such as Keep Wakulla County Beautiful and Gulf Specimen Marine Lab to provide impactful conservation projects and educational opportunities. Youth participants have designed anti-litter signs installed throughout the county, participated in International Coastal Cleanup efforts, adopted roads for regular cleanups, developed food forests that donated produce to senior citizens, and hosted workshops focused on reducing, reusing, recycling, and upcycling.
