Attention Creede
As the crack sealing machine has been repaired, ACI Constructors will continue sealing cracks in the road from approximately 8:00 am to 5pm today (Friday 8/28/26).
They plan to work on Wall Street, La Garita Street, 3rd Street, 5th Street, and 7th Street. Attached below is a map showing the entire work zone in blue. Again, although this is what's planned, the work ACI Constructors is doing is highly weather-dependent.
Please use alternate routes when travelling. If you must travel on any of these streets, please drive carefully and slowly for the safety of the workers. Thanks for your anticipated patience & cooperation!

Attention Creede
ACI Constructors has run into problems with their sealant machine today. Unfortunately, they were unable to correct the problems with the sealant machine and in turn, this means delay in the street crack sealings happening around the City of Creede. ACI Constructors are unable to continue the rest of the work until further notice.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this project.

Red Flume Explanation: The EPA and their contractor, HDR, are beginning a new study by injecting a dye tracer deep within Nelson Tunnel. The purpose of this study is to be able to track the flow path and flow rate of water through the mountain as it runs through the mine pools and tunnels. We will have instrumentation and samplers onsite regularly through August and September to collect samples and data from this study. The two fluorescent dye tracers being used are non-toxic, photodegradable products provided by the Crawford Hydrology Lab at Western Kentucky University. They are Sulphorhodamine B (red/purple) and Eosine OJ (orange). The products will come pre-mixed in water and are commonly used for investigations of this type. It is possible some of this dye may be evident in West Willow Creek/Willow Creek in August and September. Because it is photodegradable, sunlight will break it down quickly so permanent staining is not an issue. Please contact EPA Project Manager, Dania Zinner, with any questions ([email protected]).

Attention Creede
On Saturday, 8/1/2026, the "Snowshoe Shuffle" event will take place from 8:30am to 12:00pm. This event is a 5k run/walk where all proceeds from the event will be donated to Mineral County's Search & Rescue.
Prior to 8:30am, event volunteers/staff will place the barricades (highlighted in red) along Main Street from the intersection with N. Loma down to E. 2nd Street (near K Belle entrance/exit). The event volunteers/staff will keep the cross street of Wall Street open until the very start of the race. At the start of the race, the event staff/volunteers will then move the barricades to "close" the cross traffic on Wall Street onto Main until the conclusion of the event. The event is to start on Main in front of Basham Park and proceed North to Loma and up through the canyon/USFS Rd 503, and then return back to Main Street/Basham Park area. Upon the last event participant finishing the course, event staff/volunteers will remove the traffic barricades from the road(s).
Please help spread the word about this event's road closure. Proceed carefully throughout Creede during the event, as we will have many people walking/travelling throughout the city. Come out to support, have fun & stay safe!
