Biff played football and basketball and ran track for the Bulldogs, earning 10 letters. In the summer, he played Legion baseball and was a swimmer and diver on the Creighton swim team. He became a substitute lifeguard at the Creighton Swimming Pool in 1966, a full-time lifeguard in 1967, and assistant manager in 1968.
He seved as Treasurer of the Creighton Teen Club, and formed a rock & roll band in 1967 known as The Conspiritors, with Mike Elwood, Denny Hoffart, Bob Pease, Bob Hansen and Don Marshall, which performed in Creighton and the surrounding area. He also worked at Manion's Drug Store after school and on weekends for 2 years while in high school.
Biff attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1972. That fall he entered law school at UNL and graduated with a law degree in December 1974. During college, he played trombone in the Cornhusker Marching Band. He also obtained a teaching certificate from UNL, serving as a student teacher at Crete High School in 1972.
During his college years, Biff returned to Creighton in the summer and managed the swimming pool in 1969, 1970 and 1971. His brother Gregg managed the pool the following 3 years.
He moved to Boulder, Colorado on January 1, 1975, and opened a law office in Niwot, Colorado, a community of 4,500 residents, located between Boulder and Longmont. He married Susan (Beck) Warren, now a retired United Methodist minister, in 1978, and they have three children, Randi, Michael and Katie, as well as a "bonus" son, Casey Williams. They also have 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Biff was one of many Creighton youth who hung out at the Creighton Swimming Pool in 1965 and served as "taste testers" when Berry Peppers were created. After becoming a lifeguard and pool manager, Biff continued to make Berry Peppers, and in 1971, trademarked the name "Berry Pepper" with the state of Nebraska.
He still makes Berry Peppers for family gatherings.
